What's in it for me?
Find out how Yorkshire Water designed an approach to integrating remotely based teams by:
- Reviewing all staff training and embedding key diversity messages
- Introducing diversity monitoring of its performance management systems
Case study summary
Yorkshire Water operations are located in hundreds of sites often with very small teams (at times only one or two people) at each site. As the organisation has become more successful in attracting a diverse workforce the company’s Diversity Steering Group felt there was a need to consider how to seamlessly integrate the workforce. To do so, Yorkshire Water undertook the following tasks:
- It identified the types of management and staff training that were key to integrating the workforce and highlighted the types of training courses that would achieve this
- It began to monitor its performance management process from a diversity perspective which enabled it to understand whether the process, and associated pay, was fair and equitable
