Overview

An equality and diversity governance structure needs to be in place to help ensure the success of your equality and diversity programme and the delivery of your objectives. To be effective governance arrangements need to be appropriate for your organisation and this tool provides some ideas for you to consider.

The governance structure should facilitate monitoring and reporting on progress made and provide opportunities to discuss and consider new initiatives, targets and timetables. At a minimum there must be oversight and accountability at a senior level, including the Board as well as effective communications and other ways to ensure that managers and employees are informed about and engaged in equality and diversity across the organisation.
