Overview

Conditions of service need to be designed in a non-discriminatory and inclusive manner. The purpose of this guidance is to highlight good practice in relation to ensuring that the conditions of employment meet the diversity of needs represented amongst all employees and that the benefits are equally enjoyed.

Conditions of service includes pay, promotion structures, grading, annual leave, working hours and ensuring that the health and safety policy takes into consideration the needs of a diverse workforce. Anti-discrimination legislation states that employment conditions of service should accommodate the needs of employees with disabilities, as well as address issues around age, sexuality, religion or belief, gender and ethnicity.
