Empowering Employees

Diversity Works for London (DWfL) helps businesses to harness the benefits of a diverse workforce and supplier base.   We work with a number of partners to ensure that we support the delivery of diversity practices across a broader range of sectors and across London.

Alongside Southern and Eastern Region TUC (SERTUC), DWfL works in partnership to deliver the ‘Empowering Employees’ project, which aims to:

  • Build trade union reps’ awareness of diversity issues in London in order to develop their capacity to develop strategies and solutions with their employers.
  • Engage with non-public sector employers in London through trade union networks within the workplace.
  • Effect change in employer and trade union practices in order to develop pro-active approaches to managing diversity in the London economy.

The project provides support to trade union reps through an online toolkit for union reps in London looking to support the development of diversity and equality strategies in the workplace. A toolkit for trade union reps is also available in pdf format.

If you would like further information on the workshops or other aspects of the project contact Matt Dykes at the TUC at mdykes@tuc.org.uk.

Sexism and the City

Diversity Works for London is a key partner of the Fawcett Society’s ‘Sexism and the City’ campaign.
The Fawcett Society is a registered charity leading on the campaign for gender equality.  The ‘Sexism and the City’ campaign focuses on the Square Mile to raise awareness and challenge discrimination against women working in the City of London and aims to:

  • Campaign for legislative change, including the call to reform lap dance clubs as Sex Encounter Establishments
  • Increase awareness and challenge the current culture as well as the effects of using lap dance clubs as part in corporate entertaining.
