Key steps for LEs

  1. Agree the motivations and objectives for this type of activity
  2. Assess the likely level of interest and which of the diversity strands may be most appropriate to focus on in a pilot
  3. Obtain senior level commitment
  4. Invest time and attention into selecting the right participants and matching them with senior managers. Find people on both sides who are willing to make a personal commitment to the process
  5. Run a pilot with a small group of motivated mentors and mentees, putting in place mechanisms to collect anecdotes about any personal and organisational benefits
  6. Communicate the pilot experiences with others 
  7. Expand the programme to a wider audience both within the strand and to other diversity strands
